SWIMMING MANAWATU RECORDS FOR RATIFICATION
As at September 7 - 2008
LONG COURSE Age Group
At the Hamilton Winter Meet - Hamilton
Cameron Blair M 12 Kiwi West 800m Freestyle 10:09.74 11/07/08
Cameron Blair M 12 Kiwi West 1500m Freestyle 19:13.87 11/07/08

Jenna Buchanan F 15 Kiwi West 50m Butterfly 29.40 30/08/08
Jenna Buchanan F 15 Kiwi West 100m Butterfly 1:03.74 30/08/08
Notes:
Due to a filing error Cameron's records were not submitted for ratification in the correct time frame. They were however submitted to the records officer in good time.
Cameron's times were notable as both of them smashed Mathew Wolf times of 1998 and for those who do not know Mathew Wolf he went on to represent NZ in age group long distance swimming.
Jenna's 50m and 100m Butterfly times are the fastest any Manawatu Female Age grouper has ever swum according to the Manawatu records data base i.e. there are no records for anything as fast.
The Open records in the 50m and 100m by Anita Coy still stands.

Swimming Committee Meeting
Minutes as attached.
Some Winter League feedback has been received.
Winters Seating. Number of seats ordered had been reduced from 130x to 100x and this proved to be the correct amount based on the size of the meet.
Draft calendar to be circulated with this months minutes.
Male / Female Swimmer of the Year. Agreed that the idea for the top male and female in each age group to each be presented with a certificate was good and the Swimming Committee to now look further into how this should be implemented (including what the name of the 'award' on the certificate should be). Agreed that Administrator to keep database of records broken and national meet achievements.
Next Meeting: Thursday 14th August at 7.30pm at Dianne's residence.
General Business
1. Nomination for Manawatu Sportsperson of the Year. Agreed that Swimming Manawatu would not be submitting a nomination this year, due to no swimmer from the region meeting the award requirements.
2. "Out of the Blue"- Swimmers Newsletter. Charlie requested if this previously issued newsletter could once again be implemented. Previously the newsletter was photocopied and posted to clubs, and then this was replaced by the newsletter being made available on the Swimming Manawatu website. Newsletter contained information such as first time record breakers, national fixture qualifiers etc. Agreed that the website was the best forum for the newsletter as this would be the best forum for clubs / swimmers to be able to contribute items for "Out of the Blue". Note to be made in the Secretaries Newsletter regarding "Out of the Blue" and to advise what sort of information would be suitable for publication.
3. Charlie was concerned that in Tracey Field's 6 Regional Fixture Team Managers Report that there was comment that some of the younger swimmers did not know what race they were meant to be swimming in. Tracey advised that this was more of a swimmer issue, and that most of the swimmers concerned were young boys in particular. Charlie advised that event information had been circulated to clubs prior to the 6 Regional Fixture.
4. Charlie to update qualifiers list on website after East Coast Juniors results have been received. Charlie agreed to undertake to update the qualifiers list at then end of each month. Agreed that even if there is no change, the date should be changed each month so that anyone looking at the list can see that it is current.
5. Charlie advised that there is now a link on the Swimming Manawatu website (at the bottom of the National Qualifiers page) to the FINA Points Calculator (which is located on the
6. Coaching Weekends. Charlie advised that the draft schedule for the Coaching Weekends is as follows:

· November 29th / 30th for Backstroke and Breaststroke
· age groups would be 11-14yrs
